Read the guideListed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Aït Ben Haddou is one of the most emblematic ksour in southern Morocco.
23 places to stay availableAït Ben Haddou is an ancient earthen ksar located in the Ounila valley, on the southern foothills of the High Atlas. Its tightly packed dwellings, decorated towers and rammed earth walls constitute one of the most remarkable examples of traditional pre-Saharan architecture in Morocco.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 , the ksar is best explored on foot by wandering its narrow streets to the village's upper reaches. From the summit, the panorama unfolds across the valley, the surrounding cultivated fields, and the arid landscapes. Aït Ben Haddou has also served as a backdrop for numerous film and television productions.
The village is an ideal stopover between Marrakech and Ouarzazate . Continuing south, one can reach Agdz and the Drâa Valley, while the area around Aït Ben Haddou offers the opportunity to discover other earthen villages and the landscapes of the Ounila Valley.
