Ouarzazate is one of the main cities in southern Morocco. Located between the High Atlas and the first pre-Saharan expanses, it constitutes a natural crossroads towards the Drâa and Dadès valleys, the kasbahs and the major desert routes.
The city is particularly known for the Taourirt kasbah and for its significant film industry, which has earned it the nickname "Hollywood of the desert". The arid landscapes, earthen villages and light of the region have served as the backdrop for numerous films and series shot in the surrounding studios.
Ouarzazate is also an ideal base for exploring southern Morocco. To the west, Aït Ben Haddou offers the chance to discover one of the country's most famous ksour (fortified villages). Further south, Agdz marks the gateway to the Draa Valley, while the Skoura palm grove signals the start of the kasbah route towards the Dadès Gorges.
