6 places to stay availableGuelmim is a city in southwestern Morocco, considered one of the gateways to the Sahara. A former caravan crossroads, it retains a strong Saharan and Amazigh identity, in a region where desert, oases, the Anti-Atlas Mountains, and the Atlantic coast meet.
Near the city, the Tighmert oasis is one of the most interesting sites in the region. Its palm grove, gardens, earthen villages, and ancient khettaras offer a glimpse into a vibrant oasis landscape deeply connected to local traditions.
Guelmim also makes a good base for exploring the southern Atlantic and the pre-Saharan regions. To the north, Tiznit provides access to the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the coast, while further south, Tan-Tan opens the way to the vast landscapes of the Atlantic Sahara.
