Rissani is a historic town in Tafilalet, in southeastern Morocco. A former important caravan center, it occupied a strategic position on the routes linking the Sahara to the north of the country and today retains a strong identity linked to trade, oases, and desert traditions.

The city is particularly known for its large souk , still very busy, as well as for the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif , ancestor of the Alaouite dynasty. The surrounding area also offers the opportunity to discover the remains of Sijilmassa , a major former trading city in the trans-Saharan trade.

Rissani is a natural stopover before reaching Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes. The Tafilalet region is also dotted with numerous ksour and palm groves, which bear witness to the agricultural and caravan history of this part of Morocco.
